Tatler Good Schools Guide

Post by Cranleigh »

Does anyone know which factors are taken into consideration in deciding which schools to include or exclude? Thank you.

quite likely!

Really don't recognise some of the schools from their descriptions...

most say - how well they are doing academically, how arty they are, then name drop a bit....

I've always suspected it was simply the obvious 'big names' plus those schools the staff went to, send their offspring to and those they imagine their readers' children attend.

Having worked in magazines I think a payment for inclusion is unlikely (they'd probably have to mention this somewhere as happens in advertorials) but, of course, the guide carries a hefty wodge of advertising from the chosen few.

...but why are all these so called "guides" obsessed with Almuni more than what the school is about? Does anyone really choose a school because David Cameron went there?
