Two rules for Results Day please:

1. Please do NOT post scores unless you will need to appeal. Any score of 121 or more is a qualifying score (note: qualifying, not passing) and posting scores on this section is simply boasting.

2. Please show sympathy for those who have received bad news. It can be very tough to post that among all the celebrations.

If the news is not good and you want to appeal, the appeals section is the place to go. Before posting there please read the two Announcements at the top of the section, which tell you what information we need from you, and please also read Sections A, B and E of the Appeals Q&A

Etienne and I, ably supported by other forum members, are very happy to help you but it lightens our workload considerably if you take the time to read the basic information about appeals that Etienne has so diligently compiled over the years.

Thank you, and very good luck to everyone. I have been in this situation twice and seen both possible outcomes so I understand how nerve-wracking it is. Keep busy on Friday, take the letter home before opening it and reward your DC in some way, whatever the result.

Please could I reiterate this point:

Please post an outline of your case by starting a thread on the Appeals section, including the key information that we have asked for. If any information about your case genuinely cannot be posted on the Forum, there is a facility on the Appeals section for sending such information to Etienne and I in confidence. We will then reply to you on the Forum without disclosing what you have told us.

The thread will then be your personal appeal "case file". Please continue to use it so that information about your case is in one place and readily accessible.

'Regulars' to the forum will readily understand the wisdom of not discussing individual scores publicly, and this applies to all regions where score is not one of the oversubscription criteria. The only exception, as S-A says, is when the possibility of an appeal is being considered.

Hi my sister received a score 115 today and our 1st choice is Burnham Grammar. We live in Buckinghamshire so come under their catchment area. Does this mean we should be offered a place or be on a waiting list or need to appeal? If someone can explain what the situation is for us be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi apure and welcome.

I am afraid that the qualification mark for Bucks is 121, so your sister is 6 marks away from that.

Your parents would therefore need to appeal against non-qualification. You will find more information on the Appeals section and in the Appeals Q&A (link in my post above).

With a score of 115 you will need very strong academic evidence and possibly strong mitigating circumstances as well because the chances of success on a score of 115 are only around 15%.

Hi Sally Anne,

You have said in this post that a score of 115 has a 15% chance of success at appeal, is there a table or link you can post that shows the percentage chance of success based on each mark from 120 downwards to 115 say?

Well, last year's link found it's way up the list rather suddenly and unexpectedly!
