Do we stand a chance at appeal? (Bucks)

We live ooc, but applied for our DD to take the 11+ as we knew that she was capable of passing. She undertook the familiarisation/practice papers, scoring 72/73 and we thought those raw scores should be enough for a pass mark. The Sunday before her first exam (on Monday) we had the grandparents round, as we thought that would take her mind off the next day, however, we were all devastated by the news that my husband's mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's Plus the day before. (Nanny didn't know DD was taking the 11+ the next day - we kept it quite low key to keep nerves at bay) We wondered whether to go ahead with the exam, especially as it meant travelling to an unknown upper school, but we talked it over with our DD and she said she'd sit the exam. We feel this awful news affected our DD as she was very quiet and subdued and didn't sleep very well, although she's not one to make lots of fuss. The scores came out at 112/113 which doesn't reflect her previous practice results. We've decided to appeal and we have lots of evidence from school, including HT's supporting statement, predicted level 5s, letter from her year 6 teacher. Anything else we can add to support our case please?

have you any CATS or NFER results from school?

Our school is in Northants and they don't do CATs. We do have a tracking record from the HT which show predicted KS2 results. We also have some assessments that my DD has done during the year.

can the head give you prediction levels for the sats such as 5b or 5a ? - i know you will need very strong accedemic evidence -

I'll check with HT tomorrow. She has given DD a 1:1 in section B of the appeal summary sheet and has confirmed that DD has already attained her predicted end of KS2 result in reading/writing so is well above average in this area.

I know it's complicating the issue, but a friend of ours mentioned that even if the appeal is favourable on the grounds of ability, we're ooc and we may not be successful because of this. I understood from the Q&A on appeals that this is a completely separate matter. Am I right?

As Bucks deal separately with the issues of qualification and oversubscription, the school you want might indeed be oversubscribed when the allocations are made, in which case (if you are qualified but unsuccessful in getting a place) you would then have the option of going to a "transfer appeal".
