Offer of a place this morning. Congrats to those that did too, sorry to those that did not. Decision time. I feel a decision matrix coming along

A STD place, we know of heavily tutored boys who did not pass. STD must have been high this year. Will probably reject as personally IB is not for us.

My DS got a place at KES, I am so proud that he was one of 550 who took test:D

So Solihull and KES offers on the table.

2 out of 2 so far, and awaiting March 1st with more confidence. :)

KES headmaster's comments of congratulations at bottom of letter was a nice touch.

Indeed, I like Mr Claughton, very friendly and approachable. Do you know how many DC are in year 8 at KES? Seems a lot of kids took the test this year, one of the highest number.

KECH's head is more business like, very focused.

Don't know the answer to that one, but in the letter it states...

"it's a considerable achievement;particularly in a year when there were 550 applicants."

So this year must have seen a higher number of applicants?

I agree that KECH head seems more business-like.

I also liked the handwritten note at the end of the letter!

Like you, DadTutor, we have 2 out of 2 (Solihull standard place and KES Scholarship) but awaiting LEA results.

I know a few families who are willing to decline their KES places/KES scholarships for a Grammar School place. It's a shame they don't seem to reallocate declined scholarships to those that would use them.

It's a difficult time, things will get more complicated after LEA offers come out, depending on what results our DC achieve.

We are very fortunate as the indie route is open, our DC achieved scholarship at Warwick and holds places at KES, Solihull and King Henry in Cov. It's a very complicated picture bearing in mind the KES iGCSE and IB.

Good luck to all in whatever decisions are reached.
