Demon Type K question

Post by Marylou »

I'm the first to admit that maths isn't my strong point, but...either there's a mistake in this question or I'm losing it!

(6 [12] 18) (7 [19] 12)

(8 [___] 12)

The answer is supposed to be 10. Which you would get by adding the numbers together and dividing by 2 - this works for the first pair. But it doesn't work for the second pair! :?

Any ideas welcome!

Hi,

I asked this question a few months ago.

http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... =3&t=16177" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I thought I was going potty and missing something obvious - but it was nice to know that it wasn't only me.

Maybe it's one of those typo ones we come across now and then

Thanks for replies and for the link - nice to have confirmation that I have a few marbles left!

If you change the number(s) in the second set so that they add up to 38 (e.g. 7 and 31) then the sum works.

This is the second mistake we've spotted in one day - earlier we found an error in a Type N from the same source!
