Verbal Reasoning...21 types, Hiknos-help!?

Post by Manana »

Right-I am confused! Could someone possibly explain the things I am reading on the VR board about different types of questions you might meet and how these are relevant to the Southend 11+?

I have ordered the IPS techniques book and I hope this will be useful (but it hasn't arrived yet!). Now, for my questions...

Am I right in thinking the IPS book will outline 21 types of questions? Please correct me if this is wrong though!
Will all of these 21 types appear on the Essex VR test?
What then, is Hiknos?
Which practice papers cover the correct questions for the Essex test?

I would be eternally grateful for any advice from you seasoned folk!!

different companies have different names for the types of question in verbal reasoning papers

The Nfer/GL verbal reasoning papers only have the first 15 types of question and for areas such as Bucks you need to practise an additional 6 types . the types, H, I , K, N, O and S from the list in the link above.

Hi Teachermum76

Just wondering if you have received your IPS VR Techniques Book yet? It may still be winging its way to you and if so I was just wondering whether you would be kind enough to report back on the forum when you receive it, as to the contents of the book and whether it does contain all 21 types. I note that it has a good write up on the forum shop but it does not really say whether all 21 types are included (unless I have missed that?). I am also looking to buy a VR reference book (for Essex exams) and do not know which one to buy.

Many thanks.
