How do you work out how far you are from your local schools

Post by Lookinglass »

I'm sorry if this has been asked & answered else where...but I am having problems working out how far we are from all of our local schools. We have driven one of the routes and the mileage is different from what the council are saying. We have internet searched it on maps and again this doesn't co oborate what we have been told......can someone help......

Is the distance you are getting shorter or longer than the route quoted by BCC? BCC does also include footpaths (even for car journeys), so that can make their routes shorter.

How much of a discrepancy is there?

The journey we drove in the car is shorter than the council have stated and the other journey to our catchment school is longer than county are saying so not quite sure where to go. We aren't talking loads of miles .2 for the first and .4 to the second.

You need to call Admissions and ask them to compare your route against theirs. AN email first describing your route might be helpful, and if they agree that your route is shorter, get it in writing.
