CAT Results

Post by jabba7 »

Hi

Please can anyone let me know if there is a reliable link between a child's year 5 CAT results and the final 11 plus. I am trying to understand if a good CAT result means we should be OK with the 11+?

Thanks

If you do a search for "cats" on here, there are loads of posts about it. The search bar in at the top right side.

I don't believe so. An individual result may not be reliable, and also the standardisation in Bucks is different.

However, if a child were doing CATs regularly (e.g. in year 3, year 4, year 5), and getting a very high score for VR each time (128, for example), that might be quite a good indicator!

My son scored 122 (Yr3),105(Yr 4),118 (Yr 5),112 (Yr 6) in his CATs (Verbal reasoning )

His 11 plus scores were 119 and 117.
