GCSE league tables tightened up

Post by mike1880 »

Restrictions on the number of vocational qualifications that can be counted in GCSE league tables:

No change to subjects counted in humanities for the bac - so RS still not there.

I saw that - wonder if DCs school will drop the silly "functional skills" ICT thing they just started up this year.

I wrote to my MP regarding RS and discovered that they have no intention of including it in the EBac as it is already a compulsory subject in the curriculum and they wanted to encourage the take up of history/geography.

Reading further into it, they're also dropping "CVA" in favour of "VA" - in other words, simply measuring value added from KS2 to KS4 without attempting to correct for extraneous factors - and showing schools' VA for low/middle/high KS2 attainers respectively.
