Birmingham Tutor for KE/QM/BV
Hi
I'm looking for a one-to-one tutor for my son who specialises in 11 plus tutoring (Birmingham - [Great Barr]).
We specifically need assistance with English (comprehension, writing etc.)
My son will be sitting the Birmingham exams in November 2011 (King Edward, Queen Mary and BV)
Requirements (tuition):
Must have extensive grammar tutoring experience - no pun intended (apologies)
Preferably experience (previous students/tutoring) with King Edward, QM, BV
My son attends a tuition centre (twice, weekly - 4hrs in total in additional to home study) and is progressing well, however we have noticed a weakness with English in general (based around comprehension).
Looking forward to your responses.
Happy to respond to PM's.
Thanks

Why don't you ask the tuition centre to concentrate on the weaknesses?

I decided to take the DIY route and provide the support from home in areas which required improvement.
It's been a challenge trying to concentrate over the holidays

can be a rewarding period for both if handled delicately and with great sensitivity, wish I had known this when I also took a similar route...

The tuition centre will struggle to provide one-on-one support (due to the volume of pupils attending), I will be going down the DIY route next time for DS, this will save time and effort and allow me to focus directly on weaknesses.
I now work directly with my child in the evenings to address any weaknesses and build up confidence for November.

Completely agree, without making generic statements (apologies) - tuition centre's run businesses which ultimately make moneyno_ball wrote:can be a rewarding period for both if handled delicately and with great sensitivity, wish I had known this when I also took a similar route...
It's been a great experience for first DS, albeit an eye opener

there is a conveyor belt tuition centre in the hands wood area of brum, last year there were numerous failures I had heard of...and kids had been going for years!! If parents can DIY, then do.
