Need Help: GL Assessment - paper 6 - question 41

Post by shailesh »

Can someone help me with these questions

For a cuboid, length - 3, width - 2 and height - 1.

What is the largest number of cubtes of side 0.5 cm that will fit into the cuboid?

thanks in advance

I have not seen the paper, but I think the answer should be 48.
Volume of cuboid = 3x2x1 = 6 cubic cm
Volume of individual cube = 0.5x0.5x0.5 = 0.125 cubic cm
Number that can fit = 6/0.125 = 48

Other way to think is:

Length of 3cm can have 6cubes and then width of 2cm = 4cubes, height of 1cm = 2 cubes (2layers) .. so, in total : 6 x 4 x 2 = 48 cubes

I hope this helps.
