MFL results

Post by moved »

Hi all,

MFL changed format this year and having spoken to my friends in the business the marks seem to be lower than other years.

I will be teaching MFL as a subsidiary subject this year and it is already difficult to persuade pupils to take MFL so I am interested in the results.

Has anyone got experience this year?

Thanks Moved

My DS got an A in Spanish and a B inFrench. Not sure how as he doesnt seem to be able to mumble anything ineither language if I ask him!! Maybe he's different at school? For what it's worth his mark breakdown was:

French: Listening Higher 61 (B)
Speaking OCR 96 (a)
Reading Higher 59 (b)
French Writing 90 (b)

Spanish: Listening Higher 63 (b)
Speaking OCR 98 (a)
Reading Higher 59 (b)
Writing 102 (a)

Hope this is useful to you, Moved!!

At my daughter's grammar school all girls take their first MFL (either French or German) at the end of Year 10, with some going on to do a second (French or Spanish) at the end of Y 11.

Looking at this year's results compared to last year's results they are pretty much the same if not slightly better.

Edited to add that the school has a language specialism if that is relevant!
