Verbal Reasoning Tutors paper
Hi My daughter is currently doing the Tutors Verbal reasoning practice papers.
1) should I be panicking as should now at least be on the the Susan Daughtry practive papers
2) Came across some questions on paper and it wasn't answer I would have chosen but the answers shows these as correct answers.
a) Find one one word from each group that will complete the sentence in the best way?
P.C. is to
(Politician Officer Police)
as G.P. is to
(doctor golfer gardener)
Shoe is to
(lace boot slipper)
as earring is to
(- badge ring)
b) ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
the code for FOILED is ULROVW
work out code for CHAFF
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what answers they would have chosen?? thanks

Re: VERBAL REASONING TUTORS PAPER
My dd worked out the questions and given the following answers
P.C. is to Police
as G.P. is to doctor
the code for FOILED is ULROVW
work out code for CHAFF
It is mirror code and the answer is XSZVV.

Re: VERBAL REASONING TUTORS PAPER
I guess P.C stands for police and G.P stands for doctor, it makes sense now! I was thinking in a different way! Now I feel silly!!
PS in the question:
Shoe is to
(lace,boot,slipper)
as earring is to
(-,badge, ring) for some reason the word "-"keeps turning into "-" when I post message!!
HELP!! I don't know why first first word in bracket that goes with "earring is to" keeps turning into a dash???? is it because of what the word is, computer is maybe recognizing it as "non child friendly" word on this website!! it should read s-t-u-d(thought I would write it like this)

Re: VERBAL REASONING TUTORS PAPER
The forum software censors some words which are likely to be spam. This is sometimes a problem when words have more than one meaning.
Re: VERBAL REASONING TUTORS PAPER
police constable is P.C and general practitioner is G.P (Dr).
Is the lace and - question related by the manner of securing the item? ie shoes are secured with laces and earrings with studs (although I always think of them as butterfly backs). Is - the correct answer? If not is it forming compound words ie earring and shoelace?

Re: VERBAL REASONING TUTORS PAPER
Hi yeah those are correct answers!
shoe and lace
earring and s-t-u-d
I guess it must be what you said, shoes secured with laces and earring with - though I always think of the backs as butterfly backs too!! This one wasn't very straight forward!!
