Bucks online portal

Post by andyb »

I have been to the Bucks CC website and filled in the registration form to enable me to submit an online application, I have received the email with a link to complete the registration process....but whenever I press the link (or paste it into my browser, or access the page from scratch) I get an error message :( . Has anyone else had problems or is it just me? I did think I might still be on the system from DS1 so I clicked the "forgotten password" link, I received a different email saying if I clicked the link I could reset my password....but, again, I just get an error message :( . I then decided to start the process again and re-register. I got all the way to the end to be told there was already an account with the same email address - presumably me :x. The 11+ is stressful enough without the system designed to make things simpler failing me. I have put in an email query to Admissions but they say it could take 10 days to get a response  .

I registered with no problems but I did use a different email address to when I registered for DS1. Don't know if that helps really??

(This) panic over. Resident techie nerd pushed a few buttons and it's working - he thinks I'm stupid 'cos I did the same but kept getting error messages  .

Is everyone sent this access at the same time as I added my DS details on the day that they first opened it. However I have not as yet had the email that allows you to put in your school selection?

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows the answer!

Two years ago they sent a letter (came home from school, I think) with an access code, but things may have changed since then. We haven't had anything yet.

I don't think you need anything. I just logged in, went through the procedures, it picked up my child's name from his school and d.o.b (I think?!). I filled it all out and then saved it to submit a bit later on.

I've just tried and it said that my user name wasn't recognised. Given that I've applied for two school places with the same details, that's not very helpful. I guess I will have to re-register.

This website alos says the link is under secondary schoolsbut it is actually under admissions and moving schools, which I got to from the link in the admissions booklet...

Mine's done too, although I had a bit of a frustrating time finding the schools as it automatically fill your postcode in the search bit, but of course if the school isn't actually in the same postcode as you it can't find it!!

Manicmum, you can change it up to 31st October even if you have submitted it. Now, I must remember to send off the address evidence...

The system is different from when we applied for DS1 in that there is no "Unique Identification Number" - we have received nothing from school at all, I don't know if this is usual. I put in my details as parent, received an email almost straight away, took 3 days for the link to work ( :? ), logged in and input DS2's details. I suppose they must be able to cross reference DC details to the primary school that you select. Apart from the hiccup with the link not working, the whole process was simple and straightforward. I even had a play inputting my preferences - I found it easier to remove my postcode completely and just select Bucks.
