Put the digits

Can anyone help with this question. Don't know how to explain this to a 10 year old.

Put the digits 1,2,3,6 & 7 in the boxes to make the calculation correct.

_ _ _ x _ _ = 9348

Answer 123 x 76

Start thinking about the units which two MUST be multiplied together to get the 8 at the end ....

Then you know the last two number and can work from there ....

How would you explain the working from there for a child? If they do too much trial and error they will run out of time.
