RGS Guildford Open Day

Post by menagerie »

Did anyone else attend? What were your impressions, good and bad?

I've noticed that of all the schools we've visited, this is the one that both my DSs are reluctant to leave. It was us dragging them from every class room, rather than the other way round, and after nearly three hours (we outstayed the official time) they were still in no hurry to go.

The art department is sublime, the teachers were exceptionally warm and gentle, and engaged with the boys. All the boys we met had incredible reserves of calm and patience. If anything they were too gentle and quiet. I wanted to see a bit more verve, but they were very laid back and contented, despite all being scary-bright academically.

There is no green space at all, and no football until 6th form. What do they do with their free time?

Really, did no one else from these forums go along to RGS?
