She's passed but now it goes on distance to the school and we are right on the edge of the catchment most years. In two out of the last three years kids from our village got in, three years ago they didn't. I feel like I'm going through it all again. At least it's all out my hands now, just depends how many other kids have passed and where they live.

Christ hospital in Lincoln. So a 99% gcse pass rate vs a 56% pass rate. Though the school seemed very nice when we looked round but she has her heart set on QEHS.

completely sympathise with you Binka. We are the same. No-one has got in for 4years, we lose out by 0.2m! but the year before someone did, so we had to give it a go. Our second choice is not a bad school, I hear no bad reports, its the school most kids from our primary go to and parents are happy. as i said its not bad, its just very average. My DD has set her heart on grammar, she is the one driving it, I was fairly relaxed due to happy parents at the other school and she will be mortified if she doesn't, so I just hope its our year again. My DS is in year 5, so its massive for him if she does get in.

thanks both and yes Binka its awful! Hopefully the slight drop in pass rate will push the boundary a bit, I just cant imagine there will be 38 children more than 13.9 miles away, but I guess 2 years ago there were 44 more than 13.8 miles away - so there may be a slim chance. There is a 1 mile bridleway between us and the village 'behind' - may be I will dig a road (as it carves 3 miles off the journey) or convince the school she's coming by bike! x
