Post by Boopy »

Hi, does anyone know the pass rate for KGGS and whether It's oversubscribed again this year?

The closing date for applications is not until the end of next week so it would not be possible to tell if the school is oversubscribed at this stage. I don't know how many passed in that area - you may be able to find out direct from the school, though some schools are more forthcoming than others with such information.

We asked the school yesterday re pass rates and they said to talk to our primary school (not relevant in our case as out of county they won't be in the loop). Presumably KGGS are fielding a lot of calls this week, but perhaps if you are in Lincs your primary school may know something?

We're out of county, and know 5 out of 6 people in our area passed.

Incidentally we also asked the Lincs LEA about distances to find out how far people were who managed to get in last year but they said only the school would know.

Armed with the stats we might know whether to continue feeling anxious until March!

Rather odd that the LEA didn't know. Here's a link to LCC website , if you go into downloads all the schools in Lincolnshire are on there, with little crosses indicating where the children live who were offered places in March 2011.

http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/parents/ ... 29.article" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's rather long!! Hope it works. If not just search for it on the website.

Thanks for posting this link Millie - fascination maps and quite helpful to people to see where people got places.

Just having looked at the map for kings in Grantham - it doesn't actually extend far enough, there are definately boys in year 7 who live beyond the boundary shown on the map.

So this could also be the case for KGGS - although realise they have a catchment area too, which might limit the maximum distance.

DD is at KGGS now and the buses she get on start at Radcliffe-Notts (off the map) which is 5 (ish) miles out of Nottingham, there are 2 double deckers which start in that area and they are both full before they get into county, taking kids to KGGS and Kings. There are not so many coming in from the north and east as they are all in Lincolnshire so have the option of Carres and Bourne as well.
I heard on the grapevine that 5 boys from London had come up to sit the 11+ in Kings on the day DS took it.
