submission of CAF form

Post by hasmum »

Hi,
Submitted final version of CAF form (6th I think) on sunday, I dont know if I over did it with the GSs, final choice was a faith school (non grammar), which I was told only take 10% of other faiths. Was so undecided with which order and unsure if we will realistically get our first/second choice being OOC. Well I'll have to wait and see outcome of exams and pray all turns out well.

Was everyone happy with their final choices and order of schools on their CAF form?

same here as well - most of our choices were selective schools - not sure now that the CAF has been submitted - if I did the right thing - thinking of sitting Dc for some private just in case. its anyone guess come March 2012. I waited till the last minute before submitting and yet i am still unsure if i have done right for my DC.

I was the same, changed it several times and still wondering if it was all ok! I think the anxiety is heightened if you are OOC as we are, most of our choices were OOC so it all feels like a big risk. We are not even in the main catchment for the comprehensive at the bottom of our CAF. Am pleased however that the 31/10 deadline is over with, now we just have to worry about passing!! It does seem silly to me that we have to put down schools on CAF before 11+ results are known.
Whatever did we do with all our time before 11+ took over our lives? i can't even remember

How horrid!
In Gloucestershire the 11+ is taken early specifically so that we know our results before submitting the CAF. The disadvantage of course is that our DCs have only just started year 6 when they have to do it.

We put down selective only but then we only have 3 choices - very cross about this as I know that in other places they have 4 or 7; postcode lottery again ...

Thankfully we do know the results and are reasonably OK that DD will get a grammar place, just not necessarily her first choice ...

In Bucks they also do the 11plus at the beginning of year 6, but we don't get the results until the end of November - about 6 or 7 weeks later. We do have 6 choices on the CAF though (although the chances of us getting into anything other than either a particluar GS or a particluar upper school are non-existent where we live).

Willow catkin - we were the same with only 3 choices, but it all changed from this September just in time for my DS. There was a LA consultation early this year on the subject as lots of parents had complained because neighbouring boroughs had 6 choices. It doesn't make too much difference if you aren't including grammar schools but if you are applying to a number of these (which you'd need to as pass-marks vary), esp OOC, then 3 was a joke esp if one of those had to be a local comp.
You may want to think about taking this up with your LA.
