LIST OF CRITICAL DATES FOR ALL REGIONS

Post by Sally-Anne »

In February a new School Admissions Code is expected to be ratified by Parliament and become law. The new Code specifies that Admission Authorities (schools and Local Authorities) must take all reasonable steps to ensure that parents receive results of school entrance test before the deadline for submitting their Common Application Form.

As the national deadline for the CAF is 31st October (although some areas may specify slightly earlier dates) the whole process must now be shoe-horned in to September and October. Some areas may even opt to test in the summer term.

The effect of this is that, in many areas, the 11+ test dates will be brought forward by several months. Correspondingly, the entire application process will start much earlier than in previous years. Also, there are likely to be clashes of test dates with so many schools having to complete the testing process at the same time.

We hope that this new thread on the Forum will provide an “at a glance reference point” that will ensure that parents are not caught out by the changes to the timeline. We will of course be updating the main Schools section of the website as well, but this thread will remain on the forum throughout 2012 as well.

If you are aware of dates that have already been announced, please post the information on the thread below and we will add them here.

Please post any or all of the following information:
1. Name of school, Local Authority or consortium.
2. Deadline for applying for 11+ testing.
3. Deadline for any supplementary school application form.
4. Date (s) of 11+ tests, including any dates for late testers or supplementary dates.
5. Any deadline for submission of paper versions of the Common Application Form
6. The deadline for submission of the CAF online.
7. Whether these arrangements appear to be final, or if they are still subject to a consultation period.

Please also post a link to where you found the information.

Please continue to discuss the pros and cons of the changes as they apply to individual regions or schools on local forums, rather than on here.

Tiffin Girl School has started consultation.

Admission test would be in September 2012. Final date to be announced in April 2012.

Tests may also change. Changes not clearly speltout in the consultation document. But would consist of 'elements of reasoning, numeracy and literacy'. Whaever it may mean. Full details in April 2012.

From the News Update section on the King Edwards Foundation site below it would seem that the Birmingham independent schools are bringing their dates forward too.

Ambar (and poiuyt), I appreciate that, but KenR has already beaten you to it and posted the information about Birmingham on the Announcement above.

What advantage is there in knowing results on the 15th? The qualifying mark for entry is not known to parents then is it?

I did mean the indies, it states on that link that the early date for the grammars will have an impact on the two independent schools (KES) and KEHS).

Seems odd to have jumped the gun when parliament has not ratified it yet!
