Question about Burnham Grammar

Post by GraniteDad »

My DD passed the Bucks but was unsuccessful in the Slough 11+.

We live 5.7miles OOC.

Burnham Grammar is our 3rd choice school.

Any chance of getting an offer for BGS?

Please see here for past allocation distances. Unless there is a radical change in the profile of the overall cohort, your DD should be offered a place.

I am in a similar position, DS passed Bucks but not his Berks exams.
We are ooc at about 14 miles from Burnham, which is our first choice, what do you think our chances are?

Please be gentle...I don't think I can handle any more bad news lately... :?

If you look at the link above as posted by Sally-Anne you will see the historical data. Most years someone living 14 miles away would have got a place eventually, although the school is becoming more popular each year (I beleive years 7&8 are full whereas previously there were always vacancies).

Thanks scarymum. Fingers crossed for DS then, if not, then I think we'll appeal. I am not sure what's worse - the stress of the practise papers, or the stress of the waiting for allocations. :D

I know, it's not much fun, is it, you have my sympathies. I would say (and I know nothing about such things  ) that your DC would be unlikely to get a place in the first round of allocations as the school has become more popular, but who knows, each year is different. Good luck.

Yes, that's my gut feeling too actually.

Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound! We have made it this far so let's see what happens next......now I know why Year 6 parents always look so worried all the time. :D
