GCSE league tables

Post by lefol »

I was looking through the GCSE league tables earlier , particularly for grammar schools and independents. Given the new English baccalaureate (EB) , how should we rate the league tables ? On the usual A-C including Maths and English or would you be more inclined to rate performance on those that achieve close a high percentage for EB?

Given that the pupils who took these GCSEs chose their subjects long before the concept of the English Bac existed, I don't think there's any point in taking it into account. I'd look at the tried and tested A-C % this year.

I suspect that the largest number of pupils 'failing' the EB do so because they don't take a language and wonder how/whether teachers are going to be able to alter this in future years.

It's the history/geography thing as well. Quite a lot do RS as their humanity.
