Essex exam date for admission 2013

Post by divine child »

This was taken from CSSE web site.

CSSE SCHOOLS 11+ SELECTION TESTS WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER 2012
FOR ADMISSION SEPTEMBER 2013

Re: 11+ Selection tests Autumn 2012 (for admission September 2013)

Changes to the admissions process governing selective places at all the CSSE schools in Essex and Southend, take effect this year. The changes are the result of the publication of a new statutory Admissions Code that requires ‘testing before application’ to be introduced. Parents of pupils currently in Year 5 seeking a selective place for September 2013 will need to note the following:

They must register with the CSSE for a test place no later than Friday 7th September 2012.

They must attend the relevant school for the selection tests on Saturday 22nd September 2012. There is no change to the content or format of the test papers this year.

Results of the tests will be posted to parents by the CSSE on Monday 15th October 2012. Accompanying the test results will be advice that allows each candidate to know whether or not they have a realistic chance of securing a selective place.

They must submit, after due consideration, an application to their Local Authority naming their preferred schools by Wednesday 31st October 2012.

In due course the CSSE will be advising Essex and Southend Primary Schools of the dates and times when Year 5 pupils and parents will be able to visit each of these schools at open evenings during the Summer Term 2012. The information will also be displayed on this website.

PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIEST YOU CAN REGISTER FOR THE 11+ SELECTION TESTS IS FROM: SUNDAY 1ST JULY 2012. A REGISTRATION FORM WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THIS WEBSITE FROM THAT DATE.

THE CLOSURE DATE FOR REGISTRATION IS: FRIDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2012.

I wonder what that means? Will it be a percentage chance? Your standardised mark, eg 303? A yes, no or maybe??

Really useful info though, thank you. The summer term open evenings is interesting; I was wondering when they'd do those with the changes.

Thanks for that. Pretty much the same info as we've been able to glean ourselves prior to the announcement. A relief to see no change to the exam format. :)

No mention of the alternative date for sickness/religion. Presumably a week or so later.

November's Maths and English papers are now available...

For many years the local grammar schools have been among the most over-subscribed and successful schools in the Eastern region. Parents know the value of being offered a place for their child at these outstanding schools. Changes to the 11+, required by the Government, will help inform parental choice. New arrangements are now taking effect across the whole of Essex for entry to our selective schools in September 2013.

Although pupils will now be sitting the tests much earlier in their final year at primary school, parents will know the results of those tests before choosing the best school for their son or daughter.

Paul Hayman, Executive Committee, CSSE: “Choosing a secondary school is always a tough decision for parents. We know how popular the selective schools in Southend and Essex are. These changes will be welcomed by parents who want to know if their child is right for a grammar school. We look forward to welcoming parents and pupils to our schools to find out more.”

Robin Bevan, Chairman, CSSE: “We would have preferred to be testing pupils much later in the year. The Government guidelines do not allow us to do this. The new arrangements will, however, be helpful to any parent struggling to make the right secondary school choice for their child.”
