Eltham College - Interview Letters

Hi, have anyone received the interview invite from Eltham College or any other letters from them? Are they supposed to come this week?

someone might correct me, but they had interview on the same day as the exam? Do you mean "Meetings with Headmaster giving feedback on examination performance"? It just mentioned that it will be in Feb with offers posted on 16.02.12....Not sure it has to be this week, could be next week as well.

Yes the offers will be posted on 16th. I assumed if they invite you in for the feedback it should be next week with letters coming in this week, as they need time to make decisions after the meetings? It said in the exam letter that the candidates will be invited in for some classroom activities and feedback following the exam…

Hello

Eltham send out letters to the boys they are considering for admission end Jan / early February . They are very good with communication so i would not worry at all. They get to take part in activities and thereafter you are invited to meet the Head for an informal interview and you get feedback on the exam. So you should all hear within the next few days . Best of luck , my DS really likes it there .

We have received the letter inviting to spend an afternoon at Eltham next week. Unfortunately it does not say how many passed the test and where my DS stands. Anyone else got the letter?

Hi Ingal,

Well done to your ds for getting this far. The letters are sent out to those that are likely to be offered a place. The group session is to assess the kids in terms of their behaviour. It is quite informal and my ds enjoyed it last year. During your discussions with the Headmaster, he will confirm if your ds is among the top 20 to be awarded a scholarship. He will also confirm if you are likely to qualify for a bursary . He will ask questions about your reason for choosing Eltham and what other schools you have applied for. One thing I admire about him, is that he is very straight to the point. You live the interview with a clear indication about whether you will get a bursary or scholarship. Good luck!

Thank you lefol for all the info. We will know next week I guess. Do you know what can be the ration at this point? I suppose all kids that past the test are invited? How was it last year?

Yes , I think it's all the ones that have done reasonably well that are invited back . I understand about 240 boys apply for about 75 places, this includes all the children from the junior school, they invite about 90 back for the interview/ group sessions . About 40 kids move up from the junior school and the remaining spaces roughly 30-35 are available for external candidates...

does this mean no news is bad news . not had letter yet . DS felt all went well. obviously not....

I would assume you should expect the letter with some results. Call them on Monday and check. May be the letter is late.
