Anxiously awaiting results
I thought preparing my child for the 11+ was a trying time and looked forward to the test date. Now that the test is over I'm a little more relaxed, although, I never anticipated the feelings of anxiety and worry while awaiting the results. My daughter does not seem to be anxious at all - for this I am grateful. Alas, just a couple more weeks or so .....
The terrible waiting game
I know, it's awful isn't it. I'm on the last child now so I wont be doing it again. Words can't express how glad I am abut that.
How long have you had to wait. We've had 14 weeks this time, due to the new national school place allocation day. In the past it has been around 7 but I am almost useless for the last couple of weeks. Can't even sleep properly.
Never mind. It'll be over before we know it.

Iagree with you all and know exactly how you feel! I waited 7 weeks when my son did it in 2000 but this time for my daughter it will be 14 weeks and I think it is just too long to wait. Thank goodness we had xmas in between to take our minds off it for a while! I think about it at least once a day and the nearer it gets the more I think about it. I am sadly looking forward to Monday so that I can say to myself "we get the results next week". Ridiculous I know, but I just want the day to come so we can deal with the news good or bad.
I can't believe how long we have had to wait - in fact - I am disgusted about it. I put in my LEA form towards the end of September last year. I KNOW that the grammar school has known if my daughter got in after her test in November, since about December last year.
Independents can get their results out within 2 weeks, what the $*&*! is wrong with the councils. Why can't they get their act together and put us all out of our misery. In a world where we communicate in seconds does it really take 5 months to allocate a child his/her school place? It has just got longer and longer. I thought it was bad waiting for my first child's school place - I think I waited 3.5 to 4 months. The wait this time really takes the biscuit though.
Yours faithfully

I agree wholeheartedly with you. I thought when they moved the taking of the test to November, they would then bring the results forward to January - instead the children are sitting it very early (only just into Year 6) and we still have to wait 14 weeks. Makes no sense to me at all but I suppose with the LEA involved as well as CSSE it has just made the whole process slower.

Can I ask how you know the grammar schools know the successful pupils in December? That is galling!
