Solihull KE Result - Refused: Waiting Lists?

I've just checked the Solihull results for my DS applications .. it's 'Refused' for the KE Grammars (sobs)

My questions - what if some of the 'accepted' applicants for the KE Grammars decide instead to accept an independent grammar place .. does this change the offer status for some applicants who are currently refused?
What is the 'waiting list' process for the KE Grammars?

I suggest you call the Consortium office tomorrow to find out the position your ds holds on the waiting list.

The honest truth is that the Grammars over-offer anyway.
So Camp Hill boys will typically offer 124 places for only 93 available places, probably anticipating that some boys will choose KES instead.

Looking at some other threads from earlier years it seems that parents know where their offspring are on 'the waiting list' for the KE grammars - how does this work? When / how do you find out?

I would expect the lines to be busy tomorrow though, as we in Birmingham may not get to know our results until 3.30pm and I, for one, will be sorely tempted to ring up and ask for the info via telephone.

I contacted Solihull admissions (admissions@solihull.gov.uk), they replied at 06:29 this morning with ...

"We do not hold information for waiting lists for schools outside of Solihull. To gain further information for your King Edwards preferences you need to contact the King Edwards foundation office on 472 1147. ...."

[KE hopeful]

Called Foundation Office - they said they can't give information over the phone but will send out a letter today by first class post. They need your DC's candidate number.
