Any help appreciated....

Post by guttedmum »

My son did not get into our preferred grammar school. It was a shock as he is extremely capable in all aspects of his education; excellent reports, top groups in literacy and maths plus he was voted onto the school council last year and is house captain this year. He suits a more traditional learning environment and we worry in he won't reach his full potential if he goes where he as been allocated. Do we much grounds for appeal?

I have looked at the appeals section on this site and drafted out a few points. We wanted Queen Mary's Grammar school in Walsall.

Do we much grounds for appeal?
Difficult to say.

If you've read the Q&As you'll know that things like school council and house captain are unlikely to be relevant.

How wide ranging will the academic evidence be?

If the school is oversubscribed, are there good reasons for wanting a place at this particular school?

I guess I am jumping the gun a bit. I am waiting the scores from the tests and hoping to see the head tomorrow. His school reports have always been excellent and routinely his academic work very good with regular compliments and house points from his teachers. Year 5 he achieved a 5 in reading and 4s in writing and Maths.
