Please can everyone remember to let any independent schools know that they no longer need their offer of a place if they have got the State school they were hoping for. Independents want answers by next Monday I know of a few families who are on Independent waiting lists and desperately want a place that someone else may now not need. Many thanks

Excellent thread. Yes, now that GS results are out and people have had indie offers for some time now it would really help lists move if people informed schools quickly what they want to do. There are a number of people in difficult positions on wait lists.

Yes, thank you very much for your plea! I spoke to one of the schools this morning, who said they've had very few replies in either direction. It does look like everyone's sitting on their offers (including us it has to be said). I wish that all schools sent out their results on the same day, it would make it much easier - but at the moment there seems to be a huge log jam in the system.

Maybe omitting words like "unfortunately" and "what an awful dilemma" when one has a GS and indie offer would also be in keeping with being considerate!

I know I need to let DD's school know (they will already of course from her, but officially ) but I wanted time to personalise an email which I cannot do from work - think I will send them a quick note now so they can release her place (if they need to) and follow up with the rest later
