RGS Open Days 2007:

Closing date for applications for Sept 2008 entry will be:
Wednesday 24th Oct 2007.......for both Boarding places and Day places

The Tests for 11+ will be on:

The Admins officer also advised that the school will post out results (separately to LA results) on Friday 29th Feb 2008.

Reading Boys 2008 entrance

Post by guest99 »

Thanks Steve for helpful memories of Reading entrance last year . id be interested in ideas on how to pace the prep for this final week not wanting to freak our son out , who is by now verging on 'fed up with the whole thing' and wondering why he wanted to go there in the first place . Wouldnt mind but we've only been working on some practice papers since late Sept !

Hi Guest99,

We had a similar experience after fifteen months of roller coaster revision.

We kept last couple of weeks fun trying to stay on a high but not go higher as we knew that could lead to a crash in performance.

No full papers just odd sections of questions as the mood took us, talked about exam technique. Reading is a bit of an endurance test  four papers ( from a possible five subjects ) in one day, I am sure a lot of boys run out of steam so the "give it your best shot, keep going, don't give up, if you are finding it tough so is everyone else and whatever happens we are very proud of all the effort you have put in, etc" pep talk.

We had purchased a gift for after the exam but gave it to him the night before, games console helped to take his mind off things.

Good luck & best wishes,

stevew61

PS My next one is due to sit in 2010 so your feedback would be welcomed. :)
