Maths book for year 3/4

Could anyone Please suggest a maths text book (like the Peter Robson series) which has lots of questions & topics in it. I have the Peter Robson series - the Early Maths & the other set as well. I really like them but some topics like graphs, time, etc are not covered.

If anyone can recommend a similar book, I'll be really obliged. Thanks

You could also look at the ae maths books but they are aimed at slightly older children.

I'm looking for a book which has lots of questions in it so that we can use it for practice.

The 'Maths on Target' series was recommended to me by a teacher. There are books for both years 3 and 4. They follow the National Curriculum, but each topic has 3 levels of question so the year 4 book, for example, has:

Section A: revision of year 3 work (support)
Section B: standard year 4 level (core)
Section C: nearer year 5 level (extension)

They may suit as there are lots of questions, but not much explananatory text.

I don't know if this is any use to you but a while ago Scarlett recommended the Level Up series too. I bought it - can't claim to have used it yet.

I have a child in year 3 and what I am doing at the moment is going through Pitch and Expectations Year 4 ( Scarlett mentioned this a while back). It contains loads of questions right across the maths syllabus.

You can pick a Pitch and Expectations that is at the appropriate level for your child - year 4 seems to be level 3 - I don't know what the other ones are as I haven't looked at them.

Prior to this she has built up mental arithmetic speed with Carole Vorderman (both online and workbooks) and some apps on a work ipad while we were on holiday.

What sort of thing are you looking for - building up speed and accuracy on what the child already has been taught or covering new work?

I think the 'Maths on Target' books by Stephen Pearce are really good too. I've just flicked through a year 4 copy and it has time (clock reading) problems and tables and bar chart questions.
I started DD1 on the year 5 book (she is in year 5) she has now moved onto the year 6 book. DD2 (who is in year 3) was started on year 4 straight away because she seems to grasp concepts a lot easier.

The format is such that there is always a worked through example at the top of the page.

I'd recommend starting with the year 4 book and using the 'A' set of questions as further worked examples that you do together to check understanding of the examples already shown.
