It is just another horribly worded question again in my opinion!!

Sorry should of added how I got to this

1.50 spent
3.00 lost (=4.50)
1.50 in drawer
ends up with 11.00

11.00-1.50 (found in drawer) =9.50+4.50=14.00 divided by2= 7

I dont know if this is correct but tried :lol:

I think you are supposed to get them used to simple algebra
That is, 2x - 3 = 11
2 x = 14
x = 7

Gosh. The £1.50 cancelled itself out (spending and finding) so it was £11 plus £3 = £14 - divided by Auntie and Uncle = 7

Am quite pleased as I normally find those quite hard. I thought it was worded quite well to be honest.

Unless the £1.50 was just knocking around in his drawer and had nothing to do with his birhtday money!!

But the £1.50 did not have anything to do with his birthday money - but it did mean that the money he spent was in effect reimbursed with the money he found to make the £11 which he still had and the £3 which he had lost.

I am useless at explaining these. I'll stop now!
