IPS C - O type question help

Post by bristolmum »

Type O

3 pairs of words. Complete the third pair in the same way as the first two pairs.

(right, sight) (balls, call) (lights, ____________)

My DS's answer is 'sight', but the answer sheet says might.

Not sure where's the letter 'm' for might comes from.

Is the answer sheet wrong?

Please help!

looks like you move the first letter on to the next in the alphabet - R to S(ight) B to C(all) L to M(ight)

Where did that question come from, bristolmum?
I think that the GL Assessment style questions only form the second word from the letters in the first i.e. no leap to another letter which does not exist in the first word

I've seen that type in a number of practice materials and definitely in the IPS books.

These do appear in the GL Asssessment tests. They are SD type 8.
There's something wrong with your question example though.

(right, sight) (balls, call) (lights, ________)

The initial letters move on to the next one alphabetically so 'r' becomes 's', 'b' becomes 'c' and 'l' becomes 'm'.

(right, sight) (balls, call) (lights, might)

But what about the 's' at the end of balls and lights?
Either right should be rights or balls and lights should be singular.

Yes the type does appear in GL, but I can't find an example of the 2nd word in a pair being anything other than some of the letters in the first word of the pair. Has anyone got an example of a question number from GL tests 5-8 which is similar to the question asked by bristolmum?

I don't think there are any in GL.
However, SD includes questions like this in her books.
