Alternative to Tiffin Boys?

Post by Four Seasons »

Hello.

I came to realise, from Tiffin Boys waiting list forum, that many boys decline to accept Tiffin Boys' offers. In my mind, Tiffin Boys is one of the best schools in London but I started to wonder what better alternatives there are.

I would be grateful if anybody can shed any light on this.

Thank you.

Hi FS

I am not from the area but some kids decline GS places as they have been offered scholarships at independent schools.

Independent school is usually the main reason; but there could be many others.

Some children live quite far away and could get place in other nearby grammar schools. It is not uncommon for other catchment area children to put Tiffins as first choice and then decide that it would be better to go to nearby grammar and avoid travelling hastle.

At times, relocation was intended; but not feasible - sometimes for the costs and sometimes for siblings schooling or parents work places.

Thank you for your response.
May I ask which are the popular independent schools which offer scholarships?

Kind regards

May I ask which independent schools boys go for?

Thank you.

ICS website would give information on independent schools in your area. For more information about scholarship, visit websites of your preferred schools.

You could post a question on the Independent section of this forum.

Hampton, Whitgift, St Paul's, King's, Reeds, Kingston Grammar seem popular.

I know several boys in the last few years who were tempted away to Hampton through scholarships and declined their Tiffin places. They were tough decisions though.

If you are near enough then I know of many parents who have moved to get close to Grey Court. Comprehensive and about to post fantastic results ( so I hear on the grapevine)
