Venus transit

Post by bromley mum »

Is anyone watching this? NASA is showing this on live stream. Fabulous, if you are into such stuff.

We are very much into this stuff, but sadly have been scuppered by cloud - DS1 has a good telescope and was watching cloud cover carefully but no chance here, sadly.

I love the stars...and we often just sit outside gazing at them. Quite magical, especially when there are meteor showers around.

DS tells me an Australian road worker has cut through the fibre optic cable transmitting the pictures round the earth.
So NASA can get the pictures here, but someone with a drill down under manages to stop them in their tracks. Still, it will be a story for his grandchildren I suppose.

I stayed up till 2:00 watching the NASA transmission (what with the Jubilee and now this I've spent an awfully long time in front of the TV last few days!). As DDs were in bed I've taken some screen shots for them.

The clouds scuppered it here too, after waking up early to get a glimpse . I didn't realise there was a TV program, which channel was it on?

Sorry, I meant have sat in front of a screen a lot lately. BBC 2 did have a programme which explained everything. But the actual transit was transmitted online by NASA as a live stream from Hawaii.
