I seem to remember registering dd for exam in June 2011 so may be sometime soon- but then I think I have also read somewhere about registration being in September. The registration link will appear on the individual school websites and the Gloucestershire council website too.

From the Stroud High newsletter today

Summer Showcase: Monday 2 July 2012 from 9am - 12noon
Open Evening: Thursday 13 September 2012 6pm - 8pm (The Headteacher will talk at regular intervals)
Open Morning: Tuesday 18 September 2012 - Please arrive between 9.30am - 12noon
Entrance Examination (For entry to Year 7 September 2013) Saturday 6 October 2012

That doesn't answer your question, but might be of use. Especially if you have a daughter.

and indeed, there is no advantage to be gained by registering early, other than peace of mind of having done it.

Is it actually possible to have peace of mind during this process?

No
Lies. All lies.

It's possible to have piece of mind.

Once the results have been sent out.

More lies.
March 1 - allocation day
September - child starts new school - potential for disaster
Evermore - child studies/takes exams/makes and falls out with friends/hits puberty/applies to uni/takes finals... more potential for disaster at every step of the way etc ad infinitum.

We have just got to make sure we get our own back in old age.
