bond 11+ test papers maths pack 2 test 2 q 2
Read the following statement.
"A four sided shape with opposite sides that are of parallel and of equal length"
What shape is being described?
THE ANSWER IS RHOMBUS
but..... my son has answered square , is that not also correct here or am i being dim

I think the difference is that a square (which is a rhombus) needs 4 right angles whereas a rhombus does not.

Square is also correct - a poorly worded question!

that is true but the question doesnt mention angles ? or whether you needed one or two parallel pairs of sides ?

A square is a rhombus with right angles - as a Maths teacher I would say it is poorly worded.

I am not so sure that RHOMBUS is the correct answer. A RHOMBUS has all four equal sides and opposite sides parallel. The correct answer for the question, as worded, is, IMHO, a PARALELOGRAM.

My dd said 1) a square 2)a parallelagram, 3) a rhombus.
