Ashlawn
Ashlawn are doing another exam this year on Saturday, 18 Sept. I think they are offering 30 selective places for languages - like a grammar stream for just languages. The test is an aptitude test for language and cannot be prepared for apparently. I think it's worth a try (especially as we can't practice!) It's quite a clever away of selecting yet more students. Students from outside the catchment area can get in to Ashlawn by passing this exam.
Does anybody know about aptitude tests for languages?

If you look at the Manchester Grammar School website and find their old exam papers there's one of them that has a section on a fictional language, which sounds similar to some of the sort of tests used for language aptitude. It's only one section though.

If you are out of catchment it could be worth a shot, but I don't see any point in doing it for the kids who are in catchment, they will get a place at the school without having to take the test.
