MGS 2008 Q10

Post by Cozen »

Can someone pls crack this for me? I've come across similar questions in other past questions/ practice papers.

A rectangle of width 50cm has an area of 2 square metres. What is the length of the rectangle, in centimetres.

I would encourage children not to attempt to change units of area as they frequently make mistakes.

The safest method is to change the dimension given into metres.

So 50 cm = 0.5 metres.

0.5 x length = 2 so length must be 4 metres

4 metres = 400 cm
