Test day essentials, our personal list anyways:
Good healthy breakfast
2 pencils (sharpened)
1 pen
Sharpener
Eraser
Stop watch / timer ( non beeping variety)
All items in a clear pencil case

Banana and chocolate bar for first break

If I remember correctly you don't need to take in any stationary. They will provide pencils, rubbers etc.

Just a snack, watch and obviously the letter with your child's details on it is all you need.

The letter we received yesterday stated not to take anything except, a watch, snack and the letter!

In all honesty, a stopwatch is not needed.

If anything, it'll just be a distraction for dc trying to set it in between the various sections of 8 mins, 12 mins, 6 mins.... etc.
And in reality, they won't have the time to do that anyway.

A normal analogue / digital watch is fine- just in case the one in the Hall doesn't work.

Pencils are provided to all children.

I still got my DS to take his own pencils, rubber and ruler.

The ruler to help read any tables / graphs accurately, and extra pencils and a rubber so that when he presses too hard as he writes ( as usual) and breaks the lead he does not waste time waiting for someone to give him another.

Iirc, there was another pencil breaker in DS1's room last year and the teacher had to borrow a pencil from DS in the end!

Best advice is to be prepared: after all this heavy tutoring it would be a shame if dc was waiting for a replacement pencil. Valuable seconds ticking by too.

I also provided stopwatch as a guide. 50 questions in 8 mins type scenario and dc can then accurately estimate how many are needed answering in a minute for instance.

I think it depends on the child. My daughter is so distractable that she didn't take a watch. I think she took a pencil & rubber just in case, and a big snack. The tape/cd gave her a warning for the last few minutes I think, so then she went through and ticked any multiple choices she'd not yet finished.

Paramjeet, what do you mean 'all that heavy tutoring' ?

DS2 did not start working for the 11+ until March as I was too busy fretting about DS1 to prepare work for him too. I can honestly say that I have no regrets ( whether I still feel like that in October is another story though ).

I am not convinced that the intensity and length of tutoring gives any child a garuntee with these exams. He might end up getting a place or might not : either way, I intend to supply my own pencils
