VR Software difficulty?

Hi,

I've just been looking at the free download of the LEARNING TOGETHER - VERBAL REASONING - VOLUME 1 on this site. Tried it myself, good fun.

My younger daughter asked me about the 11+ this morning before school, so I tried her with the first 12 questions, which she had no problems with (I knew she'd be fine with the maths, but wasn't sure about her English). After school I thought I'd try her big sister (who is 2 years older in year 4), also got the 12 we tried correct.

My question is do these questions get harder through the test, or in the software, as you progress through different tests? Or are they set at 11+ level.

Helen asked me if children passing the 11+ had to get them all correct - my comment was it wouldn't do any harm if they did, but 1 or 2 wrong wouldn't matter

My son found the later Qs a bit harder than the first 12.

But he actually spotted a mistake with the very 1st question:

1) The chain was made from large L...KS
a) TIN
b) INK
c) BUT
d) CAN
e) MEN

Answer (B) is correct but would make the word LINKKS !

Oh, and we don't understand the answer to Q29. We think it should be ZC - which isn't an option!

And a last point is the demo works well on our Mac but the full version of the software say it needs to be on a Windows PC. Has anyone tried it on a Mac?

Thank you for highlighting these items. I will ensure that they are corrected asap. The questions do get more demanding but practice helps children to deal with this. I cannot answer the technical questions as I only prepare the questions.

Dear AnotherSurreyDad,

The short answer is NO.

The software is designed to operate optimally on Microsoft Windows operating system, notwithstanding that we are aware that a number of people have successfully utilised the CDs in an Apple Mac operating system through Windows emulation. This is not something we are familiar with nor can we support it.
