Todays warwick grammar entrance exams.

Post by stormtrooper »

How did your child find todays 11+exams for Warwick grammar schools (i.e. Stratford and Alcester) ? it could be a good idea to summarise the questions that turned up as a record for those taking the exams in future years.

Has anyone spoken to their child yet?

Best not to go into detail about the content though as some who were ill/taking the Birmingham exam too won't be doing it until next week.

that can't be correct as it would put kids who did it first time around at a disadvantage. Did your child do it today?

So ate you saying that those kids that were unable to sit the test today due to any reason will sit the same test soon!! Isn't this weird?

Is it exactly the same paper next week as this week - and is that the one taken in our area for people who were away/ill today? That doesn't seem fair as kids at school could tell those kids what the questions were ...

Surely, its got to be the same paper - otherwise there is no like with like comparison and the standardisation would be flawed. I would say everyone has to sit the same paper. As for putting the later kids at an advantage - why on earth would anyone sitting the test today go away and openly discuss questions with people who have yet to sit it, when they will be potentially competing for places with them. Our county has a mop up test a week later, in any case, until this year the 'in county' people sat the test the day before the 'out of county' people, but there were no 'discussions' in those 24hours - why would you? There are several posts on this forum last year stating about not posting specifics on here until everyone has sat the paper.

Read back through the old posts and you'll see that this question comes up every year. People have previously asked the admissions department, and they've confirmed that they do use the same exam for late sittings. In a way they're damned if they do (for a potential advantage to the late sitters) and damned if they don't (because you couldn't really guarantee that a second test would be of equal difficulty). I'm still telling ds not to divulge anything about the content to the child from his school who was absent from the test today though.
