You say you think you are about 7 miles away. If it were me I would find out exactly how far away I was. You could use the post code of the school(s) you are interested in and put them in your car sat nav or use one of those online websites that work out distances from your house to the school.

The distance as shown in the admissions booklet over the last 5 years will give you a good idea of what your options are and which schools you definately have to go and see.

Good luck.

walking distance from house to school:

Beths: 6.2 miles
C & H: 6.0 miles
bexley: 4.2 miles

from the handbook offered places for last five years (finishing with most recent)
....should apply to all?
How does it work...do they take the best mark and then distance?

Bexley Grammar

Well done on your pass Shahinoor.

It is important that you list the schools in order of your preferences If, say, you don't get your first or second choice, it moves down to your next preference, until a school is able to offer you a place. If you are not pretty certain of getting a place, you must ensure that at least one school on your list is a certain option (even if it is no 6).

Hi Shahinoor

Firstly congratulations on DC's pass! As he is "Selective", it now just comes down to distance. In your shoes, I would fill out the CAF in order of preference ie. the school you want most first etc. If you don't get offered your first, my understanding is you automatically go on the waiting list for that one, and are offered the next one you are eligible for and so on.

I'm sure there are people on here better qualified than me who can clarify the process for you. Looking at your distance from the Bexley GSs it looks like you stand a good chance of getting one.

Good luck.

For reference Chis and Sid eventually offered (I think around april) and we accepeted and so did Beths - 2 days before starting day of the 1st term !

So dont give up hope if you on the border line in terms of distance
