Recommendation for Tutor for Warwickshire 11+

Post by grahamh »

Hope that those who have just taken the exam or are about to take the exam are successful.

I wonder whether anyone has any recommendations for tutors for the warwickshire 11+. Looking for someone in the area between Claverdon, Redditch, Solihull and Stratford, but will travel further for the right person. DS is already at AGS, but his tutor has refused to take DD as she has Dyslexia. Concerned to keep her workload down and only take on students who she thinks have a great chance of passing, I think. If possible experience of dyslexia would be helpful, but DS is having specific dyslexia tutoring so really am looking for a record of successful tutoring for 11+.

As forum rules require, please reply by private message.

Other alternative to a private tutor seems to be Explore Learning (Redditch or Leamington Spa). Anyone any experience with them, I am looking for positive and negative comments please.

Many thanks,

Graham

Genuine recommendations by PM only (private message) are acceptable - but beware of the possibility that someone who appears to be offering a recommendation may have a vested interest! Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'. (It's easy to report a possible problem: just click on the 'report button' - the red exclamation mark.)

Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with caution. However, there are many long standing members (check the date of joining and number of posts) who make a valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering seriously (while still exercising a degree of caution).

If you receive a recommendation from anyone else, please exercise extreme caution!

Hi - we tried Explore Learning in Leamington and were very disappointed indeed. We stopped it as soon as we could. Got the feeling it was a money-making business venture with not much expertise behind it, and poor quality teaching. Better off tutoring yourself and saving your money. We found Bond books the best. Hope this helps a little - I'd hate for anyone else to waste their money. Fine if you want a 'babysitter' while you do the food shopping though - but doesn't half rack up your food bill!

As a rule of thumb be wary of any Warks prep tutor who advocates any VR books, thinking that they will be suitable for CEM VR content,
