I'll move this thread to the Wirral forum - might get some more help from people there about distances

no you dont have to - if your dd passess 11+ and you apply they then allocated on distance from school to your house
if you apply to Upton Hall they allocated to the catholic children 1st

Your choices are:
(In order of proximity)
Wirral Grammar School for Girls (approx 13 miles from where you are)
Upton Hall Catholic Grammar School for Girls (about 19/20 miles)
Birkenhead School (Independent/Selective - approx 20 miles)
West Kirby Grammar School for Girls (approx 20 miles)

All excellent schools! Depends if you need a school with a Catholic/Christian ethos, in which case Upton would be the best bet. Wirral Grammar is obviously the closest. :) Good luck to your DD!

there is 2 different 11+
one for upton Hall and then one for wirral Lea which covers all the other Grammar schools - if they pass the wirral one you can apply for any of the grammar schools in the wirral
hope this helps
