Tutor Reading Area
Hi
I'm hoping my daughter will sit the exam for Kendrick for entry in 2014, could anyone PM me recommendations for a tutor in the Reading area, initially I would like an assessment done as she is still not sure if its for her.
Also would like to hear from experience what the PE facilities are like and if this is an area that is promoted as well as academic subjects.
TIA

welcome to epe
our usual warnings about tutor recommendations applies
Genuine recommendations by PM only (private message) are acceptable - but beware of the possibility that someone who appears to be offering a recommendation may have a vested interest! Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'. (It's easy to report a possible problem: just click on the 'report button' - the red exclamation mark.)
Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with caution. However, there are many long standing members (check the date of joining and number of posts) who make a valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering seriously (while still exercising a degree of caution).
If you receive a recommendation from anyone else, please exercise extreme caution!

Re: Tutor Reading Area
er, PE facilities - well, my daughter is not sporty, but this is what I know. They have a sports hall for badminton, trampolining, gym, aerobics, other indoor things. 4 netball/tennis courts. Dance studio and exercise room (machines etc) for older girls. And a small pool. They play hockey and do athletics over at Palmer Park, and have done a cross country run in the grounds of Reading School. They have 4 or 5 hours if PEa fortnight. At first they don't have any choice of activities, but do lots of different ones, probably 6 in year 7. In y10 (i think, might be y9) they start being able to choose from a few options, including a sports leadership programme, and my y11 dd seems to enjoy pretty much everything she has done, from water polo, to tag rugby.
They can do PE GCSE and it seems quite popular. If you do it you can wear a grey hoodie with PE GCSE and your name on it, and there were quite a lot of them around at the last parents evening
There are clubs for lots of sports, as well as the school teams that play other schools. I'm not sure how successful the school teams are though! From what dd has said, there seems to be more of an ethos of do lots of sport and enjoy yourself rather than win at all costs!
