Me too. Or rather, my mother opening it and saying "Oh well, never mind" before she realised what it actually said.

Luckily for me, the letter from the mixed grammar 7 miles away - down on the form as our second choice - arrived first so we accepted it and as it was 2nd choice I got free transport. The following day we got an offer from the first choice local single sex grammar (the former head of Pate's moved there last year - now it's private). From my point of view I was delighted - we really wanted the mixed school but couldn't afford the train or bus pass.

Getting letters out of sequence in those days proved rather useful.

I wonder if all the GS got their standardised results at the same time on Thurs? If STR could get their results out so quickly, why couldn't the others do the same?

I too have been asking myself this question - surely the marking of the test was centralised and therefore all school SHOULD receive results at the same time. Last year they were all issued within an approximate 12 hour window. I so feel for all those anxiously waiting - thankfully not me this year ........ or for the next 7 for that matter!!!! Good luck to all those receiving their results tomorrow - I will be lurking :D
