Passed with Diabetes!

Post by ginx »

My heading says it all. My diabetic daughter passed!

She will be the only girl at grammar school with diabetes at present. So pleased she's done it! Maybe calculating those carbs has helped her maths ...

Well done - you must be really proud.

My son passed both his exams too - he has ADHD/Aspergers.

Thank you ever so much for your good wishes. I am surprised there are no diabetic dd's at the gs - think there are 500? students there. Hope that doesn't suggest a problem between learning and diabetes.

Well done!!!! I bet it was challenging but all the more rewarding for you both. Many congratulations.

Yummycool - best of luck. Nail biting time indeed. Maybe you have the results now.

I am so pleased for my dd. Diabetes isn't an illness but it makes life difficult at times, for all of us. Very pleased we managed to control her levels over summer and eleven plus day! I would love to speak to anyone else doing the eleven plus who has a dc with diabetes.

Thank you to everyone for your advice, support - and congratulations!
I'm going to miss this forum - well, I haven't left it and am beginning to wonder if I ever will! After all, I have got a ds who sits the 11+ in four years .... he doesn't have diabetes, he's just downright awkward!!!!!

Well deserved, wonderful news. So pleased for you and your family.
The damn exam is bad enough without the additional problems of SEN/diabetes or any other issue.

Thank you :-)

It is a huge relief - we are so proud.

Having difficulties or medical issues makes you (or at least it did with me) wonder if we should attempt the grammar school route. I am so pleased I went with my gut and did it - he got excellent results and it has been a great experience and learning curve for him.

It goes to show that children with difficulties can be just as capable, and we should never presume otherwise.

I hope others can take some comfort in these posts in the future, I looked everywhere for info on children with ASD going to grammar school and there was very little info to be found.

WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!!
