what now?

Post by northernmonkey »

We live in East Sussex and my DS sat Kent test. Found out he passed yesterday, much relief and tears of joy. Saw HT today to get scores 120, 121 and 126 so 367 overall. Feeling a bit deflated as not sure whether any GS would take him on that score. Any advice welcome? Is it worth applying and then appealing later but at least we have shown interest in GS on CAF form or realistically should we just move on and apply for option B an outstanding school, nearer to home?
DS only wanted to sit test to see how well he could do and so no tutor, no practise test and a pack of GL papers done over the summer for 10 mins at a time. Level 5s across the board at school so really proud of what he achieved but unsure of what to do now.

Just north of Uckfield. have spoken to Skinners today. No way!! Spoke to Kent admissions. Could put down boys Grammar as decision made on distance so that seems only option but futher away than plan B school and value added for plan B is higher than boys grammar.

I know of children from inbetween Frant and Wadhurst getting to TWGSB, but not further... We are also hoping for Skinners and borderline on catchment for TWGSB but don't know our scores yet. Good luck in your application for TWGSB though, might see you there!

We are OOC and East Sussex too.

Our DS is at a state school, no tutoring other than a few Bond tests which he did well in.

Got VR 140 NVR 133 Math 135 for a total of 408.

We thought of Judd but the cut off score for that seems to be above 415. Skinners is too far away and may not be a possibility anyway.

Happy with our local schools so if he ends up there anyway, we're sure he'll be fine.

There are a couple of year 7 boys at TWGSB from the Uckfield area, they got in on appeal not sure of the circumstances, but it maybe worth a shot, even better if you have your headteachers support.
