Should I appeal

Post by houseful »

I would most appreciate your valued opinion on whether i have the grounds for appeal.

I believe that my son who is currently working towards a level 6 in maths and level 5 in English severely underperformed in his recent grammar tests in Birmingham.

I will email the details of the extenuating circomstances and would appreciate your guidance on the matter.

Many thanks

I'm very sorry to hear of the extenuating circumstances, houseful.

If I were you, I would want to appeal, but I'm afraid there's no disguising the fact that most appeals will not succeed (and no one can say in advance what the outcome of yours is likely to be). The process can also be very stressful.

Apart from the extenuating circumstances (where it's best to be as factual as possible, and let the written evidence speak for itself), you would really need to have:
1. Wide-ranging academic evidence.

2. Good reasons for wanting a place at the particular school.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Etienne

Ive spoken to the foundation and have been advised to start collating medical and academic evidence for appeal hearings to start after allocation day in March.

No doubt I will be back to seek further advice.
:)
Kind regards
