Anxious parents (and son) needing advice
Hi, just joined after 'lurking' for several weeks!
Ds has got 239 score for BV/KEA and rank 153 for QMGS.
We live between BV and QMGS and would be more than happy with either.
Maybe we're too anxious over this but does he stand a decent chance of getting into either? If so would 239 be good enough for BV as this may be our preference.
Thanks

Yes, that should be more than enough for BV.
Re: Anxious parents (and son) needing advice
very comfortable to get in BV or even KEA
Re: Anxious parents (and son) needing advice
Thanks both for your advice.
We'll sit down this weekend and help him make his choices!

Re: Anxious parents (and son) needing advice
We think we're going to put Vesey as top choice.
Ds is very keen.
Just hope that 239 will be enough with the complete change of system this year and that qualifying score won't increase too much.

I think with a 24 point leeway you don't have to worry too much

Hi,
Could I just ask whether getting a mark of 228 would be considered borderline for CHGS. I've read in various places that the cut-off may be around 227 (given the published cut-off of 225) but i've not felt any more reassured. We've put CHGS as our 1st choice and handsworth GS as no.2, KEFW just too far to travel unfortunately. I thought the most stressful part was over - it looks like its just begun..lol
Many thanks for any advice you can proffer.
Regards

Re: Anxious parents (and son) needing advice
If you want CHGS then put it as your first choice. We simply have no idea what is going to happen to QS this year but under the equal preference system and with 6 choices there is nothing to lose by taking a risk with your top choices as long as you have a safe bet ranked lower. We're in a similar position with FW and will put it as our first choice, cross our fingers and make sure we are happy with our number 2 school also.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I wouldn't say even 239 would guarentee you a place at BV this year, wouldn't even say it was comfortable, I'm afraid.
I think scores will rise more this year as more dcs will try to get a KE grammer rather than KES/KEHS.
Would expect all scores to have higher rates, let's hope everyone gets what they need though
